In the preface to his textbook Abstract Algebra, Israel Herstein states that “there is little purpose served in studying some abstract algebra object without seeing some non-trivial consequences of the study.” Sharing this sentiment, I have created a variety of projects to supplement my abstract algebra courses. The projects are designed to build intuition and reveal the relevance of the subject. I will present a sampling of my projects, along with the philosophy behind them, how I implement them, and student feedback.
