In this presentation, I will offer a critique of students' standard introductory mathematical experiences and present a rough draft vision for changing introductory mathematics. The vision is animated by my primary professional goal to equip students with the mathematical knowledge, quantitative skills, and productive dispositions necessary to solve important problems our world faces. I will share my experience of reimagining my introductory calculus course as a mathematical modeling course. I am eager to collect feedback, find inspiration, and meet new collaborators.
