Fostering Positive Collaboration

Speaker

Details

Mathematics rarely happens in isolation, and is also more fun when done with other people. But effective collaboration can be challenging — the mathematical sciences alone have several notorious collaborative fallings out that have damaged both the relationships involved and the associated mathematical progress. Fortunately, collaboration is a skill that can be developed and practiced. This talk will present research from colleagues in the social sciences that can help us as mathematicians to create and maintain positive collaborative relationships. We will also present a concrete implementation of these ideas for an undergraduate research group.
